Is the O-shaped leg of a newborn normal?

TOP 0

O-shaped legs, that is, bowlegged legs, are normal physiological phenomena in most cases.

Because in the fetal period, in order to adapt to the narrow space of the uterus, the newborn will adopt a special posture, and the limbs will bend and tighten across the chest. The long-term maintenance of this posture leads to the phenomenon of O-shaped legs after birth. But there is no need to be overly nervous, because this situation usually gradually recovers within one or two years after birth.

In order to ensure the healthy growth of newborns, it is suggested to ensure adequate intake of essential elements such as calcium, iron and zinc, as well as vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin D. In addition, avoid keeping newborns in a fixed sleeping position for a long time, and don't tie diapers too tightly. At the same time, avoid using the walker too early, so as not to increase the burden on the newborn's legs.

Although O-legs are normal in most cases, the possibility of pathological causes cannot be ruled out. If in doubt, it is recommended to go to the hospital for diagnosis in time. If the diagnosis is pathological, we should follow the doctor's advice for corrective treatment.
