Dry cleaning of down jackets is generally not recommended for two main reasons:

Affect the warmth: the potion used in dry cleaning may affect the warmth of down jackets. Downs in down jackets have excellent thermal insulation performance, but dry cleaning chemicals may destroy the structure of down jackets and reduce their thermal insulation effect.

Lead to fabric aging: dry cleaning may also lead to fabric aging of down jackets. The fabrics of down jackets are usually specially treated to provide better warmth and durability. However, chemicals in the dry cleaning process may damage the fabric and accelerate its aging process.

Therefore, in order to ensure the warmth and prolong the service life of the down jacket, it is recommended to wash it by hand or machine according to the washing instructions on the inside of the down jacket (if the instructions allow). When cleaning down jackets, you can refer to the following steps:

Prepare a basin of warm water, close to the temperature of your hands, and add a proper amount of washing powder or neutral detergent.

Soak the down jacket in warm water for a period of time, and then gently brush the dirty part with a soft brush or toothbrush.

After cleaning, don't wring out or squeeze water, but squeeze it down along the grain of down jacket to discharge excess water.

Rinse with clear water. You can add a few drops of edible vinegar in the second rinse, which is helpful to neutralize the detergent and remove the residue.

Hang the down jacket in a ventilated place to dry, and avoid direct sunlight.

After drying, gently pat the down jacket with a hanger to restore it to a fluffy state.

I hope these suggestions can help you better clean and maintain down jackets!
