Reasons for high hemoglobin concentration

TOP 0

Hemoglobin concentration is an indicator in routine blood examination. Some patients may have a temporary increase in hemoglobin concentration due to a small amount of water or a temporary lack of oxygen in the body. Therefore, multiple examinations are recommended. Generally, if the adult male hemoglobin concentration is more than 170g/L and the adult female hemoglobin concentration is more than 160g/L after multiple examinations, it is considered that the hemoglobin concentration is too high. Physiological and pathological factors can lead to this result. Pathological factors include heart disease, kidney disease, tumor disease, etc.

1、 Physiological factors:

Newborns, the elderly and people at high altitude may have hemoglobin concentrations slightly higher than those of other people due to hypoxia. In addition, long-term stay up late, mental tension, frequent anaerobic exercise and other conditions may also cause temporary fluctuations in hemoglobin concentration, and patients can relieve themselves after rest.

2、 Pathological factors:

1. Heart disease: Heart disease may cause high hemoglobin concentration in patients, such as chronic pulmonary heart disease, cyanotic congenital heart disease, etc. It is recommended to treat the primary disease in a timely manner, such as improving chronic lung disease by anti infection treatment with aminoglycoside antibiotics and macrolide antibiotics. If the disease is serious, surgery (such as interventional surgery) may also be required to improve the symptoms of heart disease;

2. Kidney disease: For example, polycystic kidney, hydronephrosis, renal cancer and other kidney diseases may lead to high hemoglobin concentration. It is recommended that patients timely treat kidney diseases, such as using dialysis to improve renal dysfunction;

3. Tumor disease: For example, hepatocellular carcinoma, ovarian cancer, uterine leiomyoma, etc. may cause high hemoglobin concentration in patients. It is suggested that surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be used for anti-tumor treatment. The tumor condition will be alleviated, and hemoglobin concentration will gradually return to normal.

In addition, severe vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, extensive burns, diabetes insipidus, hyperthyroidism crisis, ketoacidosis, etc. can also lead to high hemoglobin concentration, mostly due to the outflow of sweat, urine, blood and other body fluids. It is suggested that in addition to the treatment of the primary disease, fluid replacement treatment should be carried out in time, such as blood transfusion, intravenous injection of glucose or sodium chloride solution. If the patient is taking sodium aminosalicylate enteric coated tablets, nitroglycerin tablets and other drugs, the hemoglobin concentration may also be higher, but it can generally recover after a period of drug withdrawal.
