The United States has garrisons in many developed countries. For example, developed European countries such as Germany, Britain, Spain, and Italy, developed countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, and developed countries such as Australia and Canada, all have American garrisons.
In our minds, national sovereignty is closely related to the presence of troops. The developed countries themselves are not at a bad economic level, so they naturally have the capital to engage in national defense and army building, but why are they willing to "give up some sovereignty" and allow the US military to station in their own countries? Are they not afraid that the US military will fight for their own national sovereignty?
To answer this question, we have to answer it by country and region. Under different circumstances, the reasons why US troops are stationed in these developed countries are also different.
1
U.S. troops stationed in developed European countries
The United States sent troops to Europe for four reasons:
First, the NATO military alliance. According to the treaty, the alliances can garrison each other.
According to relevant international laws, it is normal for member states to send troops to each other in the NATO military organization alliance.
For example, as of 2020, there will be 8,400 US troops stationed in the United Kingdom; in Virginia and Alaska, the United Kingdom will dispatch 5,400 troops.
This kind of operation of sending troops to each other between the two countries can be regarded as ordinary actions within the NATO military alliance.
Throughout the entire NATO, except for France, all member states have US troops stationed.
Second, after World War II, some defeated countries were forced to accept the stationing of US troops, such as Germany.
In the two world wars, Germany gambled everything, but ultimately lost. As the defeated country, it can only accept the treaty imposed by the victorious country and the management of the US military.
Third, build a geopolitical security line of defense to guard against Russia.
During the US-Soviet hegemony, Europe was close to the Soviet Union. In the history of the development of modern civilization, Europe has always been an important driving force for world civilization. Coupled with the kinship between Europe and the United States of the same origin, it is necessary for the United States to build a security line of defense against the Soviet Union.
Therefore, for the sake of common geographic security, the United States began to station troops in Europe.
Later, when the Soviet Union disintegrated, this line of defense in Europe, dominated by the United States, directed its spearhead at Russia. Although Russia is not as good as the Soviet Union, its military power cannot be underestimated, and its potential threat to Europe and the United States is great.
Fourth, strengthen control over European countries.
In the history of the development of modern civilization, Europe has a great influence. If the United States wants to be the world's hegemon, it needs to bind Europe and create European and American integration. This strategy can be traced back to the "Marshall Plan" that the United States supported Europe.
If the United States wants to control Europe, it has a Marshall support program economically; militaryly, it needs a strong presence of U.S. troops. In this way, no matter how turbulent Europe is, it will be watched by the US military.

U.S. troops stationed in developed Asian countries
The ability of the US military to stay in Asia is largely due to World War II and the US-Soviet struggle for hegemony.
In Asia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore all have U.S. troops stationed there.
Needless to say, Japan was defeated in World War II and had two atomic bombs and had to accept the management of Emperor MacArthur.
Today, there are still more than 30,000 US troops stationed in Japan, and the armed forces are fully equipped.
The US military stationed in South Korea originated from the Korean War. During the Korean War, the United Nations troops headed by the United States landed in Incheon and have never left South Korea ever since.
When the Soviet Union was there, the US troops stationed in South Korea existed to guard against the Soviet Union; the Soviet Union was gone, and today, everyone knows the meaning of the US troops stationed in South Korea.
Singapore, located at the southernmost tip of the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia, guards the Strait of Malacca, and is of great military strategic significance. Therefore, Singapore has the titles of "the country of the throat" and the "crossroads of the Far East".
If the United States wants to control the situation in Asia, a key position like Singapore must be occupied. Coupled with the pro-American foreign policy of Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew, in 1992, the United States chose Singapore Changi Naval Base as the docking and logistics base for the US military aircraft carrier.

U.S. troops stationed in Australia
Before the establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States, Australia mainly engaged in military cooperation with the United Kingdom; after the establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States and after the Battle of the Papua Peninsula in World War II, Australia gradually turned to military cooperation with the United States.
In 2016, the United States proposed a strategy to return to Asia. As a member of the Western system, Australia naturally turned to the United States and reached military cooperation with the then-U.S. President Barack Obama. The United States will send 2,500 Marines to Australia in stages.

U.S. troops stationed in Canada
The United States and Canada were both British colonies in North America at the beginning of the country. Later, the United States and Canada became independent successively.
Before independence, Canada's defense system was supported entirely by the United Kingdom; after independence, Britain was gone, and Canada's national defense also lost ground. At this time, Canada began to rely on the United States and wanted to rely on the strength of the US military to defend Canada.
As a result, the United States and Canada reached a series of military cooperation:
During the U.S.-Soviet struggle for hegemony, Canada joined the Anglo-American camp and placed all its military defenses under the responsibility of the United States. From 1947 to 1996, Canada vigorously disarmed itself;
In 1958, the United States and Canada established the North American Air Defense Command;
Today's Canada, in terms of military defense, is basically copying American experience and weapons, and implementing the "walking with the United States" strategy, completely throwing its defense business to the United States.
As of 2018, Canada has a population of 37 million, the world's second largest territory, and his military expenditure is only $15.5 billion. National defense construction depends entirely on the US military.
