Icebergs come from snow, so icebergs are fresh water

TOP 0

Icebergs are natural ice bodies that exist on the polar surface for many years and move along the ground. Iceberg is formed by many years of snow compaction, recrystallization and refreezing. It has a certain shape and level, and has plasticity. Under gravity and pressure, it produces plastic flow and massive sliding, which is an important fresh water resource on the surface. Iceberg is a form of water, is the snow after a series of changes. To form an iceberg, there must be a certain amount of solid precipitation.

The general process of glacier formation: snowflake → granular snow → granular ice → glacial ice. The snowflakes that form glaciers are the solid form of water vapor in the air when it is cold, and the water vapor is salt free. Therefore, glaciers are salt free, and the north and south poles are no exception. As time goes on, the hardness of the snow grains and the compactness between them increase. The large and small snow grains squeeze each other and are closely inlaid together. The pores between them shrink and disappear. The brightness and transparency of the snow layer gradually weaken, and some air is enclosed in it. Thus, glacier ice is formed. The process of snow granulation and densification is fast at the temperature close to melting point; At negative low temperature, the process is slow. The glacier ice was milky white at the beginning of its formation. After a long time, the glacier ice became more compact and hard, and the bubbles in it gradually decreased, and gradually became crystal clear, with blue crystal like old glacier ice. Icebergs of various postures have been formed.
